Still Kickin'

Okay, no, it's not that iceblog is down. It's not that I'm down, either. It's just that I haven't posted anything in a while. A long while.

Which is a shame, because life has been fun.

More than fun, really. I got back to Boulder March 11 and it's been almost nothing but fun since then. Right. More than fun, whatever that is. I love my house and my housemates and my friends and the friends of my housemates etc. It's a happy family. Not yet disfunctional. I've partied like a rockstar, gone to a few good shows (Damien Rice, David Grisman Quintet, Spearhead), helped host a number of barbeques and dinners at my house, got lost backpacking in the desert with my friend Erica, and ... and I don't know. Whatever else. I've been working, too, and work's been busy. Teaching a course here, talking at a high school, training some folks in Delaware. Delaware. My first trip since I got back from the ice. And now, I'm getting ready for my second: Alaska. I've never been to Alaska. I'd never been to Delaware, either, but that's different. The project in Alaska is at a field camp on a glacier in the Brooks Range, in the middle of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. I was told that all the field party saw in the same place last year, though, was a bird and a couple bugs. Too high and vegetation-less for animal life to really take hold.

That's that. Here I am. I leave for AK on Sunday. Soon! Sad to leave Boulder, but I'll be back--just in time for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival (and backpacking beforehand) down in southwestern Colorado. Hoooooo-ray!

Good to hear from you Beth. A big shout out to Delaware!! I would love to hear about your high school experience. Southwest Colorado. When you go, Linda and I would recommend taking the train out of Durango to launch youorself into the Weminuche Wilderness. Kinda pricey but a great experience. Also you should mosey over to south central colorado to visit the Great Sand Dune NP.
Good Luck in Alaska.

A BIG SHOUT FROM THE GUYS at station 13, in albany oregon. good to see you back safe. and had a good time in the land down under. Today was a busy day with many calls and a sad loss of a 36 year old female. she most likely passed a phulmonary embelism. full cardiac arrest. we did our best. but she had a p0-2 of 7 .. after 30 min of good ventelation. and a good placement of the entubation tube.. so their had to be some reason the oxygen was not getting in the system. PE for short. im sure.. but we will hear back after the autoptsipy. the weather is getting better in oregon and Im getting some jumps out. yes for a old dude skydiveing keeps me young.. well take care and remember the chilie is always hot at "THE LUCKY 13 HOUSE'
keep us up to date on your travels. and we will keep the fires out the do our best to save life and property..

great to hear from you again. mom and dad, the krues and the louders are leaving for alaska on the 11th of june, but your experience will probably be a tad different from theirs. You're missing the great 17 year cicada invasion as i wish i was. these suckers are everywhere and the noise is like the frogs x10 24 hours a day.
